Annual School Auction Held
The 11 th Annual St. Mary School Auction was held April 26 in the school gym. This year's auction theme was ‘Masquerade Ball' based on the movie Phantom of the Opera.
As in the past, the auction contained a live and silent auction. The evening began with a social hour in which attendees were able to view the hundreds of live and silent auction items. Following the viewing, a wonderful buffet dinner was served. The menu consisted of: Prime Rib, Basil Cream Chicken, Cheesy Potatoes, Green Beans Almondine, Cream Corn, Garden Salad, Dinner Rolls, and Cheesecake.
Following the live auction, the raffle prizes were drawn by Fr. Juan Garza, new Pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Winner of the 42” Plasma Television was Jack Sims. Winner of the $500 Branson Gift Certificate was Nancy Stuchlik. The winner of the Nintendo Wii Gaming System was Maria Hernandez.
It is too early to determine exact numbers, but preliminary figures indicate that this year's auction may be one of the most successful. Most of the proceeds from this year's auction will go towards the St. Mary Capital Campaign, “Building on an Everlasting Foundation.”
A special thanks to all of the parents, faculty, and friends who worked many hard hours for several weeks prior to the auction. There were so many who helped by organizing the event; making wonderful decorations and centerpieces; and ensuring there were plenty of items to be auctioned off. A special touch to the evening included the wonderful masquerade masks which the students made in art class. The masks were used as the centerpieces for each table and other decorations. Also, thanks to everyone who helped with preparations and clean-up the night of the auction. All help was greatly appreciated!
It is not too early to start thinking about next year's auction. If you have an idea or suggestion, or want to be part of the planning for next year, feel free to contact the school office.
